An Arrancar (破面 (アランカル), arankaru ) is a Hollow that has removed its mask and has gained Shinigami-like powers. The name "Arrancar" is a Spanish verb meaning "to remove" or "to rip off" (The kanji used means "Ripped Mask"), a reference to an Arrancar's removal of its Hollow mask. Following the retrieval of the Hōgyoku and Aizen's emergence into Hueco Mundo, they have become the main antagonists of the series, in particular the Espada, Aizen's top ten most powerful Arrancar.
:Empowered Humans:
Humans are being who appears in Bleach. The humans in bleach resemble that of our world. Most of the characters that reside on earth and in Karakura Town are regular humans with no special powers. However, some humans may develop spiritual powers which allow them to sense and fight spirits. These humans are known as Empowered Humans.
:Hollow:
Hollow (虚, ホロウ, horō) are a race of creatures which are born from Human souls who, for various reasons, do not cross over to Soul Society after their death and stay in the Human world for too long. They are corrupt spirits with supernatural powers that devour the souls of both living and deceased humans. Hollows are the principal antagonists at the beginning of the story and remain a primary threat beyond that point. Hollows settle in Hueco Mundo (Spanish, lit. Hollow World; grammatically, the phrase would be Mundo Hueco, meaning "a world that is hollow"), but can cross over to the human world and Soul Society.
:Quincy:
The Quincy are a line of spiritually aware human warriors. Originally a mixture of survivors of Hollow attacks and those who had lost loved ones to Hollows, the Quincy developed a variety of supernatural powers to hunt and kill Hollows before they attacked humans (and to destroy those who already had), including the ability to control Spiritual Energy. The Quincy are unique as far as races go in Bleach, because unlike the Hollow or Shinigami, Quincy are still technically human and reside in the world of the living. The Quincy are nearly extinct due to extermination by the Shinigami about 200 years before the main Bleach storyline.
:Shinigami:
Shinigami (死神, "death god(s)"; English dub Soul Reaper(s)) are a race of spiritual beings that act as enforcers and psychopomps who all share similar supernatural powers. They are souls with a high level of innate Spiritual Energy, recruited from the ranks of the residents and nobility of the Soul Society. Like all spirits, they cannot be detected by normal humans. Shinigami use their Zanpakutō, supernatural swords that are the manifestation of their owners' power, to perform soul burials on Pluses. Shinigami also use their Zanpakutō as well as magic known as Kidō to fight their archenemies, the Hollows.
:Vizard:
The Vizards are a group/race of fomer Shinigami who acquired Hollow powers. The Vizards are the antithesis to the Arrancar, Shinigami who have obtained Hollow powers.[1] Having begun as Shinigami, the Vizards appear entirely human, and barring those times where they are using their powers are indistinguishable from ordinary Shinigami. To gain access to their Hollow powers, a Vizard dons a Hollow mask. This allows them to augment their Shinigami abilities with Hollow powers, as well as giving them access to some of the generic Hollow abilities. Their spiritual pressure likewise changes into a mix of Hollow and Shinigami. This process of donning one's Hollow mask is referred to as "Hollowification".
